Team Liquid PH (TLPH) has done it again.
The defending champions scored a 4–0 sweep against Aurora Gaming PH in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 16 Grand Finals at Cuneta Astrodome on October 26, completing a back-to-back title run and securing their spot in the upcoming M7 World Championship.
TLPH takes early lead at MPL Philippines Season 16 finals run
Team Liquid took early control of the match with gold laner Kiel “Oheb” Soriano’s stellar Harith performance that earned him the MVP in Game 1 after helping the team to secure every major objective. The speed from their lineup allowed TLPH to rotate faster and seal the opening game with a swift final clash.
The momentum carried into Game 2, with Jaypee Dela Cruz’s Hilda play leading the way. His early pressure limited Aurora’s chance to scale toward the late game. Despite a midlane mistake that gave RORA an opening, TLPH quickly recovered and extended their lead to 2-0
Game 3 once again highlighted Jaypee’s playmaking, putting Aurora in a tough spot as Liquid moved to match point, 3–0. TLPH’s strong rotations and teamwork kept control in their favor as RORA tried to hold on.
Aurora tried to stage a comeback by contesting the Lord, a powerful late-game objective, but Team Liquid made the decisive winning move. As a team fight began near the pit, mid-laner Alston “Sanji” Pabico saw an opening with Luo Yi and gave the shot call to rush the base, going for a quick backdoor split push, taking down the final tower, and sealing the sweep as the arena erupted in celebration.
Jaypee earned the Finals MVP as the backbone of Liquid throughout the series, initiating battles, absorbing pressure from opponents, and giving teammates the space they needed to shine. While others drew attention with shinier plays, his smart positioning and fearless engages made their victory possible at the MPL Philippines Season 16 finals.
