This move in Southeast Asia seems to be a match made in heaven with them enjoying a very solid fan base in the region. Co-founder and former player Sébastien “Ceb” Debs says the move to Southeast Asia just felt right specially when the organization was a beloved feature at the Manila Major 2016. OG won it all against Team Liquid and were crowd darlings throughout the tournament.
“This move marks a new chapter in OG’s journey as a truly global esports organization. From Europe to Southeast Asia, our story has always been about people, players, fans, and communities united by passion and resilience. Expanding into SEA isn’t just a geographic shift; it’s about embracing a region with incredible talent and energy that has shaped Dota 2 for years. What excites me most is the chance to reinvent ourselves while staying true to who we are. Dota 2 has always been part of OG’s DNA, and this new roster gives us fresh energy, new perspectives, and a chance to write another great story. The future of OG is global, competitive, and more connected than ever,” said OG co-owner and CEO Xavier Oswald.
“We found a new home, which is not so new because SEA, and the Philippines in particular, as you know we go back to Manila Major. It’s always been home for us.”, Ceb added in a video statement for OG in their announcement.
The Johan ‘n0tail’ Sundstein led squad won the International back in 2018 and 2019. The squad spammed the Marlon Marcelo and Aldrin ‘Dunoo’ Pangan Filipino voice line, ‘Lakad Matatag!’ to the joy of many Filipino fans and the organization holds a very special place in Filipino hearts.
