A Duel Between Dota 2 Titans

The Grand Finals for Dota 2 pitted long standing squad Execration against brand new team Kukuys who are brimming with talent. Execration brings back players such as Justine ‘Tino’ Grimaldo and Bryle ‘cml’ Alvizo who won them the Philippine Finals last year. But winning again was going to be a tall order against the star power of captain Carlo ‘Kuku’ Palad, Armel Tabios and Djardel ‘DJ’ Mampusti. An impressive 12-0-16 performance for Mark ‘Bob’ Urbina’s Slardar opened the flood gates for Execration in Game 1. A dominant draft and laning stage was what Execration rode in Game 2. Despite a silly fountain dive by Jinn ‘Palos’ Lamatao, Execration  still easily got the win by pure economical advantage.

With Kukuys, looking to prevent a sweep it was substitute player Charles ‘lewis’ Santos and his Ursa who kept his team’s hopes and dreams alive alongside DJ’s MVP performance from his Hoodwink in the 45 minute slugfest. Kuku has always been a fan of unorthodox drafts and he showed his mettle with two odd carry picks to finish off the series. Execration was blindsided by the Batrider and Bristleback for lewis and Kukuys pulled off the reverse sweep. Kukuys deny the back to back Philippine Championship away from Execration behind the drafting and leadership of Kuku as lifted the Predator Shield in front of an ecstatic crowd.

VALORANT brings in the firepower

Philippine VALORANT mainstay Oasis Gaming went head-to-head against Xipto Esports who just recently entered the local scene. The first game in the series went to the Oasis Gaming opening pick of Sunset. Mark ‘Marky’ Tuling was the tip of the spear with his Yoru racking up 19 frags and 2 assists in the Map that was all Oasis Gaming with a score of 13-5. Game 2 was another dominant performance for Oasis Gaming in Abyss. Jon Michael ‘tesseract’ Piga was on a mission for Oasis with his Sova. With perfect utility and aim for the Initiation, Xipto Esports didn’t stand a chance in a 13-3 rout.

But Xipto Esports proved that Oasis Gaming does bleed like the rest with a comeback victory in Corrode. John Timothy ‘JA’ Arone 31 frags outpaced Jhian ‘Zeus’ Dela Vega’s 23 frags to force a Game 4.

Xipto’s Bind pick did not go in their favor. The Oasis Gaming firepower was firing from all angles and Xipto Esports were suffocated 13-6. Zeus once again proves he is one of the best Raze players in the country with Oasis Gaming lifting the Predator Shield and bagging the 1st place prize of PHP 200,000.

League of Legends makes its Predator League Debut

NAOS Esports took on West Point Academy (WPA) to secure the lion’s share of the PHP 200,000 prize pool. In Game 1, NAOS jungler Gaetano Tolentino ‘Galata’ Scarlata and carry player Kyle Morello ‘Dawn’ Somera took the spotlight in a very dominating win. The sustain and tanky draft for NAOS was impregnable as West Point Academy crumbled in Game 1.

A Renekton and Dr. Mundo jungle draft was West Point Academy’s bet to force a Game 3. John Philip ‘Devoured’ Escucharo, the number one Filipino jungler in the Challenger Leaderboards, was not going to go down without a fight. Devoured secured the first three major objectives for WPA as they rode the momentum to easily secure Game 2.

In the winner take all Game 3, it was NAOS mid laner Mhike Buagas ‘Maikehan’ Vizcayno who took the spotlight. Behind Maikehan, NAOS shut down the aggressive antis of Devoured and the rest of WPA. WPA tried to stand strong, but NAOS could do no wrong with their draft as they are crowned the first ever League of Legends Philippine champions for Predator League.

Repping the Philippines in India
