IESF WC PH Qualifiers begins!

Filipino hopefuls will now have the opportunity to battle it out with top esports athletes in theinternational scene in the Philippine qualifiers of the 12th Esports World Championship, anannual tournament that will pit more than 55 member nations from the International EsportsFederation at Eilat, Israel.

Organized by the Philippine Esports Organization and powered by Smart in partnership withGGNetwork and One Sports, the qualifiers aim to showcase the mettle of Pinoy esports playersin ​Dota 2​, ​Tekken 7​, and ​eFootball Pro Evolution Soccer 2020​.

“We are grateful beyond words to be given the opportunity to help our young esports athletesclimb their way to the top. The IESF World Championship qualifiers will showcase the Filpinotenacity in the virtual scene, and we at Smart are ready to support these talented individuals inany way we can,” said ​Jane Basas​, Senior Vice President and Head of Smart’s wirelessbusiness individual unit.

Participants in the DoTA 2 and PES2020 qualifiers will go head-to-head in best-of-one matchesduring the initial rounds. The top four teams will then advance to the playoffs and compete inbest-of-three matchups to determine the final contenders for EWC’s regional tourney.

The final four players will then vie in best-of-fivematches to snag the opportunity of representing the Philippines in the regionals.

“Our accreditation as a member of the Philippine Olympic Committee has reaffirmed PESO’scommitment in our esports athletes since 2012, and has given us the momentum we need tohelp these potential esports professionals compete, challenge and win in the global esportsstage,” said ​Brian Lim​, President of PESO.

The qualifiers are slated to take place from Sept. 19 to 20, while the playoffs will run from September 24 to 27​.
